What effect does age have on the skin?

The skin, like hair, continuously regenerates itself. A full renewal cycle lasts around 28 days, up to a maximum of around 50 cycles in a lifetime. Muscle tissue starts to diminish with age, and the skin therefore no longer has the same support beneath it. Marks therefore become more visible and more permanent, as the skin can no longer revert to its initial state.

Can wrinkles and the effects of age on the skin be avoided?

To be perfectly clear, it is impossible to prevent the skin from ageing. All that we can do is limit the visual impact on our skin, by taking care to hydrate it properly and by eating a diet containing antioxidants to fight against the free radicals that cause ageing.
