Balms
Phytema™ Laboratoires offers two balms made with natural and organic ingredients. The first is intended to nourish, repair and hydrate the hands and feet. The second is a warming balm designed to quickly and gently relieve muscle and joint pain.
As winter arrives, we often hear talk of balms for the body and lips. But how is a balm different from a cream? Who are balms intended for?
Difference between a cream and a balm
In cosmetic terms, a body cream is an emulsion of oil in water. It is easily washable, as there is little oil content compared with the quantity of water. The cool sensation after application comes from the evaporation of the water. With a balm, it's the opposite! The oil forms a protective barrier and it is therefore more difficult to wash off.
Balms: for whom and why?
Balms, given their moisturising capabilities, are generally intended for dry and very dry skins. But, even if you have normal skin, there is nothing to stop you applying a balm in winter if you want a more effective product for a particular area. Just make sure that you do not apply it to the eye contour area, as the skin is thinner and more sensitive in this area.
