Hair loss

There are numerous factors that can cause hair loss, ranging from genetics to our environment, or our state of health.

Genetics

Otherwise known as baldness, this is most widespread, and most dreaded, among men. In a nutshell, baldness is caused by a collection of genes that alter the body's production of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. This accelerates the life cycles of the hair, resulting in thinner hair as it does not have the time to grow properly and, in time, leading to a reduction in the size of the hair follicles until, ultimately, they stop producing hair.

Environmental factors

Other factors arising from our environment, such as a constant state of stress or depression, can also cause hair loss. A deficiency in zinc, magnesium, calcium or iron can also come into play. Illness can also be a factor, with conditions such as diabetes giving rise to long-lasting and diffuse hair loss.

Hair loss solution

A number of solutions exist, depending on the severity of the hair loss. These range from anti-hair loss lotions (link to product) to prescribed medications. Hair transplants are a last resort, but this is an expensive and painful solution.
